Pascoe Vale Probus Club Inc.
Its Beginning and Development
In April 1991, then Rotary President Brian Slane, wished to establish a Probus Club in Pascoe Vale and sought the assistance of Rotarians Don Ross and Ted Sutton who accepted the challenge.
A feasibility exercise was conducted and the resultant findings and recommendations were presented to President Brian on 15 th May 1991 for submission to the Board of the Pascoe Vale Rotary Club. The Board approved the report on 16 th may 1991.
The Probus Centre-South Pacific Inc. Action Guide was procured and the process for creating a new Probus Club followed in detail.
Final details were made with regard to;, venue, press notices, and guest speakers, enabling us to arrange an interest meeting held at 10.00 am, 30 th May 1991, at the Pascoe Vale RSL, Cumberland Road, Pascoe Vale. A total of 75 people attended.
The meeting was a success and prospective members voted to have a mixed gender group, meet on a Thursday, and elected a steering committee to establish arrangements for the foundation meeting to be held at the RSL on Thursday 27 th June 1991.
The steering committee met on 13 th June 1991 and proposed administrative and operational procedures were formulated and foundation committee formed;

At our Foundation Meeting 65 members were in attendance when President Brian Slane formally accredited the Club and issued badges of office to president, Secretary and Treasurer.
Our first guest speaker was Past President Dennis O’Gorman who spoke of his “Walk Around the Bay.”
In June this year, 2001, we will complete 10 years of operation and have a membership of 120.
