Our club's community service work
Our club is deeply committed to local community service, consistently working to address real needs and create positive change close to home. From supporting food banks and organising health screenings to sponsoring youth programs and improving public spaces, our members actively engage in projects that uplift and strengthen our community.
This hands-on work reflects our core Rotary values of service above self and shows our dedication to building a more caring, connected, and resilient local community.
Take a look at some of our community service work.
Working bees at schools, kindergartens and community spaces
We love rolling up our sleeves for working bees! From local schools and kindergartens to neighbourhood houses, we help improve learning environments and community spaces.
These hands-on volunteer days involve tasks like gardening, painting, repairs, and general maintenance.
We have helped renovate a student well being centre, installed garden beds for primary kids, built bench seat storage for a Scouts club, installed raised garden planters at neighbourhood houses, tidied gardens at aged care homes, and fixed up lots of kindergarten playgrounds.
Working bees are a great way to get involved in Rotary service projects!
Peace Poles in our schools and community
We have proudly taken part in installing Peace Poles at local schools as a symbol of hope, unity, and the universal message of peace.
Each Peace Pole is inscribed with the phrase “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, reflecting Rotary’s commitment to fostering understanding and harmony across cultures. Students are also encouraged to become peace builders in their school community.
By placing these poles in school grounds, we aim to inspire students, educators, and the wider community to embrace peace in their daily lives and interactions.
It’s a simple yet powerful reminder of the role each of us plays in creating a more compassionate world.
Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network
RIMERN is a multi-Rotary club project involving 22 Melbourne Rotary Clubs. It operates a warehouse in Brunswick East and is staffed by volunteers.
RIMERN helps people who are moving into secure housing after difficult circumstances. RIMERN collects good-quality donated furniture, appliances and household items, checks that they are safe and usable, and then provides them to people referred by welfare agencies.
Someone who has experienced homelessness, domestic violence, refugee displacement, incarceration, unemployment or another crisis may finally obtain a home but have very little money to furnish it. RIMERN can help provide things such as furniture; kitchen appliances; crockery and cookware and other essentials
We are very proud to be part of RIMERN, and some club members enjoy volunteering there.
Awards for graduating year 6 students
Our club proudly presents awards to local graduating year 6 students each year, recognising their hard work, leadership, and commitment to making a positive impact in their school communities.
These awards celebrate students who demonstrate strong values, kindness, and a willingness to help others—qualities that reflect the spirit of Rotary. By honoring these young individuals, we hope to encourage their continued growth and inspire them to become future leaders who care about their communities and the world around them.
