Our club's youth programs
Rotary’s Youth Service area focuses on empowering young people through leadership development, education, and community involvement. Programs like Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange, and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) give youth the tools to build confidence, learn new skills, and make a positive impact in their communities.
By investing in the next generation, Rotary helps shape responsible, compassionate leaders for a better future.
Take a look at some of the youth programs we provide.
Free hearing and vision tests for 4 to 6 year olds
Our club proudly offers free hearing and sight tests for preschool children as part of our commitment to early childhood health and development. These screenings help identify potential issues at an early stage, giving children the best chance to succeed in school and beyond.
Working with audiology and vision students from the University of Melbourne, we ensure that families have access to these vital services at no cost.
It’s one of the many ways our club works to support the wellbeing of our youngest community members and promote lifelong learning and success.
Solar Buddies workshops at our local schools
Our club is actively involved in the Solar Buddy program and we run workshops at local schools. The Solar Buddy program educates students about global energy poverty and inspires compassion through hands-on learning.
Through this initiative, students assemble solar lights that are sent to children living in energy-poor communities around the world. By participating, students gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by others and contribute to a meaningful solution.
Our club supports this program by providing resources, coordinating school involvement, and fostering global citizenship among local youth, empowering them to be part of real-world change.
RYLA: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Our club proudly sponsors young people to attend RYLA, a transformative leadership development program designed for emerging leaders. By covering the costs for local youth to participate, we invest in their personal growth, confidence, and leadership potential.
RYLA offers workshops, team-building activities, and inspiring speakers that help participants build valuable skills, form lasting friendships, and discover their ability to make a positive impact. Through this sponsorship, our club is helping to empower the next generation of leaders in our community.
Science, technology and engineering events
Our club is committed to supporting the next generation of innovators by organising, sponsoring, and funding local students to attend STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) events. We believe in the power of education to shape the future, and these events provide students with hands-on learning experiences, exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and opportunities to connect with professionals in STEM fields.
We have assisted with sending students to the ConocoPhillips Science Experience, the National Youth Science Forum, the Science and Engineering Challenge, and Space Camp in Florida.
By removing financial barriers and encouraging participation, our club helps ignite curiosity, build confidence, and inspire students to pursue careers that will drive progress and innovation in our community and beyond.
