Planting seeds of peace in Merri-bek
Peace begins locally: in our homes, our schools, and our neighbourhoods. Recently, that belief came to life as Pascoe Vale Rotarians joined the Merri-bek Interfaith Network for a Peace Pole ceremony in Fawkner.
Held at the Fawkner Community Centre, the gathering brought together community members from diverse faiths, cultures, and backgrounds to celebrate Interfaith Harmony Week.
In a time when division can feel loud and overwhelming, moments like these remind us that unity is stronger.
As part of our 50 year milestone of community and global service, Pascoe Vale Rotary has set an inspiring goal: to plant 50 Peace Poles throughout the community.
These Peace Poles carry the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” Displayed in multiple languages, the message reflects the diversity of our community while reinforcing our shared humanity and desire for peace in our communities and across the world.
This initiative is being brought to life through partnership. Working alongside Merri-bek Council, local schools, and community groups, Pascoe Vale Rotary is helping embed visible symbols of peace across the municipality. These poles will stand as daily reminders that we all have a role to play as Peace Makers.
