Packing meals for a cause at the 2025 Zambrero Meal Packing Day

On October 16th, Pascoe Vale Rotarians rolled up their sleeves, donned a bandana and joined hundreds of volunteers at the 2025 Zambrero Meal Packing Day.

Hosted annually by Zambrero, the event brings together community groups, schools, businesses, and service organisations to pack nutritious meals for people in need, both in Australia and overseas.

Through Zambrero’s partnership with international aid organisation Rise Against Hunger, these meals are distributed to schools, shelters, and communities where food scarcity is an ongoing challenge.

Our Rotary team joined the energetic crowd at the Melbourne Showgrounds, and worked side by side with other volunteers. Together, we packed thousands of meals made up of rice, lentils, and soy protein. These ingredients make a world of difference to families facing food insecurity. These meal packs are being sent to the Philippines.

In just a few hours, we were able to contribute to a total of 1,033,364 meals being packed across locations in Australia, the UK and Ireland.

Our club’s participation is part of Rotary’s ongoing commitment to fighting hunger and supporting sustainable communities, both locally and abroad.

Events like the Zambrero Meal Packing Day remind us that small actions, when multiplied by many, can have a big impact. We’re proud to have played our part!
