Our club's visit to Repurpose It in Epping

This week, members of our Rotary Club had the privilege of visiting Repurpose It in Epping, a business that is leading the way in innovative, large-scale resource recovery.

Repurpose It operates with a strong purpose: to ensure that valuable materials are kept in use for as long as possible. Their mission aligns exceptionally well with Rotary values, particularly our focus on sustainability, community service, and long-term impact.

Through advanced processing technologies, Repurpose It takes materials that would otherwise end up in landfill and transforms them into high quality products used across landscaping, construction, and agriculture. Seeing this in action made the concept of a “circular economy” feel tangible and achievable.

During the tour in a comfy Repurpose It minibus, we learned how different waste streams, ranging from organic material to construction waste, are sorted, cleaned, and repurposed. The scale of operations was impressive, but what stood out even more was the passion of the Repurpose It team. Their enthusiasm for environmental stewardship was evident in every explanation, demonstration, and conversation.

Our trip highlighted just how important it is for businesses, community groups, and individuals to work collaboratively to reduce waste and protect our environment.

We extend our sincere thanks to the entire Repurpose It team for their warm hospitality and for sharing their expertise with us. Their dedication to environmental innovation is something our Club deeply admires!
