Our club's international service work

Our club’s international service is focused on making a meaningful impact beyond our local community by supporting global projects that address critical needs.

We have contributed to initiatives such as providing clean water and sanitation, supporting education in underserved regions, and participating in Rotary’s worldwide effort to eradicate polio.

Through partnerships with other Rotary clubs and international organisations, we help deliver sustainable solutions that improve lives and promote peace.

Take a look at what we do to support international communities.

Helping to build schools and support communities in Cambodia

Two dedicated members of our club, Peter and Gerard, traveled to Siem Reap, Cambodia in January 2025 on a service trip organised by the Rotary Club of Ivanhoe, in partnership with the Cambodia Rural Students Trust and the Rotaract Club of Siem Reap.

They assisted in building projects at schools and supported the community by providing desks, bikes, solar lights and sporting equipment. Working alongside local communities and Rotary volunteers, they helped construct safe, functional learning environments for children who previously had limited or no access to proper school facilities. The trip also supported a local social enterprise.

The Rotary volunteers stayed at a hotel where employees were being trained in hospitality, to enable them to work at other hotels in the tourist areas. Their hands-on involvement not only contributed to better educational opportunities for Cambodian students but also strengthened the bonds of global friendship and service. This project reflects our club’s commitment to making a lasting difference—both at home and around the world.

Supporting Interplast

Our Rotary club is proud to support Interplast, an organisation that provides life-changing reconstructive surgery and medical training in developing countries. Through fundraising efforts and donation, we help ensure that individuals with cleft lips, burns, and other treatable conditions receive the care they need completely free of charge.

Our support also contributes to the training of local medical professionals, promoting sustainable healthcare solutions.

By fundraising and donating to Interplast, our club is helping to restore dignity, mobility, and opportunity to those who need it most, embodying Rotary’s mission of service above self.

Supporting the Umoja Orphanage in Kenya

The Umoja Orphanage, officially known as Umoja Children’s Village – Ukunda, is a transformative initiative founded by Australian educator Cathy Booth in 2011. Established on a 15-acre property in Ukunda, Kenya, the orphanage provides a safe, loving, and sustainable environment for orphaned and vulnerable children.

Operating as a project under Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS), the facility is designed to be self-sustaining, featuring family-style homes, a school, and agricultural initiatives to produce food for the children.

Since opening its doors on July 30, 2016, Umoja has been committed to providing not only shelter and food but also education, healthcare, and emotional support to help children break the cycle of poverty.
