Guest speaker: Steve Crosling from ShelterBox

We had the pleasure of having Steve Crosling from ShelterBox address our club. Steve is a Rotarian from Diamond Creek Rotary and has a long association with the ShelterBox program.

ShelterBox provides emergency shelter, aid essentials and technical expertise at times of disaster, conflict and climate crisis, responding within 24 to 48 hours to provide shelter, hope and dignity.

Steve shared the incredible story of ShelterBox, a UK-based charity that provides emergency shelter and essential supplies to families who have lost their homes to disaster or conflict. From earthquakes and cyclones to refugee crises, ShelterBox works on the ground in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

Each iconic green ShelterBox contains life-saving essentials such as a family-sized tent, solar lights, water purification equipment, blankets, and cooking utensils. The ShelterKits include tarps and tools to help people repair their homes.

Steve highlighted how Rotary’s global network often serves as the “eyes and ears” for ShelterBox, helping identify where the need is greatest and ensuring aid reaches those who need it most, as quickly as possible.

The presentation reminded us that even from our local community here in Pascoe Vale, we can all play a vital role in global humanitarian action.

Thank you Steve for a most informing and inspiring presentation.
