A Peace Pole for St Thomas More Primary School
On June 26th, Pascoe Vale Rotarians joined the St Thomas More community in Hadfield to recognise our commitment to building peace in our community. The Peace Pole, donated by Pascoe Vale Rotary, was unveiled by incoming President Peter Wilson, Principal David Hurn and State member Kathleen Matthews-Ward. Peter presented David with a certificate and club banner to recognise our partnership and commitment to building peaceful communities.
Peace poles are important because they serve as powerful symbols of hope, unity, and a shared commitment to global harmony. Planted in public spaces, schools, and places of worship, each peace pole bears the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, reminding people of diverse cultures and backgrounds of the universal desire for peace. They inspire reflection, dialogue, and action toward a more compassionate and understanding world.
Fun fact: this peace pole is the 446th to be installed in Australia.
With thanks to PP Pat and President Bruno for their support. May Peace Prevail on Earth.
